"Good game, but the grind is very heavy and still has aggressive monetization. From 2026 april there is also a ban phase in Onslaught mode, which means new players who just farmed their first T10 tank, just got banned...Imagine Counterstrike where you need to grind every single gun, ammo cost ingame currency, perk cost ingame currency and now you can even ban guns which you dont want to play against, (instead of adapting your strategy). But WG couldnt even implement a banning phase right: if both teams ban the same tank, only that 1 tank is getting banned(1 ban gets wasted), leaving both teams in darkness just like before the update, as we still dont know what other team picked until we spot them ingame. This game is nightmare for F2P new players. This game should have stopped at T8 or T9, but we are at T11 already. Game should have been kept as simple WW2 tank FPS, but its a hero shooter now. If i unlock every tank and playing on highest level, i cant play Tiger 1 or T34 anymore, which made me trying out his game in the first place. 75% of tanks are different and there is not even a consistency on tech lines, they dont teach you how to play the tank or what to expect. Reminds me of Warframe where a lot of half baked ideas go into the game just because other games have it, not because its needed. The crew system is just an other annoying thing to drive you crazy. The tiered system progression and matchmaking is hilariously bad game design, but gets away with it because its WW2 tank theme. "Well... I haven't played much on Steam—mostly through the Wargaming launcher—and... The game has only gotten worse over my 7,000 battles. The graphics and tank models? - Yeah, they're great. But otherwise, this game is just goyslop and a money grab for people who want to shoot at other tanks, and I even get where they're coming from. The game was at least somewhat playable up until 2017–2018, but now it's just a flood of fictional tanks, and the devs can't come up with anything more creative. No events. Nothing new to improve the gameplay. No efforts to reduce the grind in this game. This game is stagnating, and stagnation is worse than depression. TL;DR I don’t recommend this game to anyone; it’ll completely destroy your nerves. But if you’re pretty rich and have a really deep wallet—go ahead and play this mess."

"I used to play this game way back but I never got far. I'd say that I have about 600-700 hours of playtime. Lately the grind was significantly improved with gifts of premium time and boosters, but this shouldn't be what gives you progression. Your progression should depend on your skill. However, once you get enough victories, the matchmaker will balance it out by putting you with bad teams. I know this is the case by installing XVM (Wargaming approved mod) which shows you the stats and winrate of players in both teams in the current match, and then it calculates the supposed chances of victory according to these stats, which most of the time is proven true. No matter how good you are, you won't save a bad team. That means that you lose and get less xp and credits. Add to that the huge problem of RNG mechanics too. However, the worst thing about this game is that tank draw distance is limited to 560m, and there is a lot of deliberate cover, which means close to medium engagement distances, mostly in corridor types of environment. All of that means that russian tanks (and all similar like chinese and polish tanks) with strong armor and alpha damage reign supreme. You won't get to experience the deadly accuracy of german tanks or the advantages of american gun stabilizers and good suspensions. German tanks are really the worst experience I've had of all the nations I've played. I don't recommend this game to anyone. You're better of playing something more fulfilling and rewarding."

"Played since the closed beta 15 years ago. Took a break for 4 or 5 years. Thousands of battles, thousands of hours. Everything is SO MUCH WORSE lmao. Everyone just spams gold ammo, even if that ammo is available for silver, wallet warriors have a distinct advantage. That's not even considering all the premium vehicles. The UI though. Holy crap. Look how they massacred my boy. It's so cluttered, there are so many stats everywhere, so many different equipment modules to install that all affect your vehicle's stats. It's all so overwhelming compared to a decade ago. Also had some REALLY weird encounters in my few PVP matches. Arty wouldn't have me spotted (made sure to use my crews that were maxed out so I had sixth sense) yet would nail the exact center of my tank multiple times. Very suspicious. Otherwise the majority of the players I encountered would spam premium ammo, you can tell from the bottom left corner of your screen what you were hit with, downright sad. After just a few battles once I left the warmup games, I uninstalled again. I miss classic WoT. Ironically if you want classic WoT, the closest thing you have is WoT on consoles called Modern Armor. It's less complicated, runs better, and even though it has modern tanks it feels more like WoT than current WoT PC does. You even only have to worry about one crew, a commander, intead of training a full crew for every tank. Icing on the cake, a PVE mode you can just relax in. In WoT PC you only have PVP to grind out your tech tree tanks, which means facing wallet warriors and sweats."

"World of Tanks is a game that perfectly blends tactical gameplay with fast-paced action. At first glance, it might seem like just another shooter, but it quickly reveals a much deeper layer of strategy and teamwork. The variety of tanks is impressive, ranging from light scouts to heavily armored giants, each with its own playstyle. This makes every match feel different, as you constantly adapt to your vehicle and team composition. The progression system is rewarding, giving you a real sense of achievement as you unlock new tanks and upgrades. Visually, the game still holds up well, with detailed tank models and immersive maps. Sound design also deserves credit — every shot and engine roar adds to the battlefield atmosphere. However, the game is not without its flaws. The grind can be quite heavy, especially at higher tiers, and matchmaking sometimes feels unbalanced. Additionally, premium content can give certain players an advantage, which might be frustrating for those who prefer a purely free-to-play experience. Overall, World of Tanks is a solid and engaging game that offers both casual fun and competitive depth. If you enjoy strategy, teamwork, and historical military vehicles, it’s definitely worth trying."

"The people got worse too. Or maybe I just forgot what it was like to begin with. It's low quality and or bot only match making right into tier 7, people will tell you there's skill locks, but you can be in the highest echelon and it be that way. Anything that has a 21+ hour grind until you even approach a decent game is not worth your time. For the $714+ gross you can make in that same time frame you can buy a decent game. Great to keep your kids occupied though. They'll love the hold W atomosphere. Did the AI get worse..... it's going to take you an age to get to play with real people. "(Not an actual review of the game, just a veteran rambling) I have been playing WoT since 2013. Back then... - I enjoyed the times when there was almost no physics in the game where you could not fall off of a cliff or deal any DMG through ramming other tanks. - Gold ammunition was only available for gold, making it more special, rare, and precious to use. Today, everyone is using. - Gold ammo, making your armour obsolete, unless you sidescrap 24/7 which is impossible unless you have no weak sposts on your turret and you camp in one place all game, where as we know, everyone wants to get that "special place" on the map and will ram you toward enemy just to get it... - Crew perks, Crew training and Researching new tanks used to take months. I remember getting ~300 experience per 15 minute battle without the premium account bought, where to unlock the last or second to last tier arty i had to amass 300,000 points of experience, so you can imagine it took me almost a year to get that desired tank. "I’m still a relatively new World of Tanks player, but even in a short time I’ve already started noticing the cracks in the game. At first the game feels really fun. You get fast progression, easy matches, and unlock tanks at a satisfying pace. But after a while the gameplay loop becomes very repetitive, and progression starts to feel noticeably slower. When advancing through the higher tiers, the skill cap gets steeper. I would say it took me 1000 games to get a bit of an understanding of the gameplay on tier 8-10. The game simply isn´t beginner friendly. You really need to put the hours in and grind to get better. It´s a sweatfest. Balance is also an issue. There are clearly overpowered tanks like the Ares and BZ-176. I’ve had multiple frustrating sessions that just ended in rage quits because of how unbalanced some encounters feel. The monetization also stands out more the longer you play. World of Tanks feels heavily pushed toward a cash-grab model. Premium tanks are often stronger than tech tree tanks, and many of the newer vehicles are locked behind lootboxes with very low drop rates. Realistically, you can end up spending 50€ or more just for a chance at what you actually want. I also expected a more grounded, realistic tank experience, but the direction has shifted quite a bit. "I'll preface this by saying I've played this game for years since I was a kid and have thousands of hours likely. I thought I'd try the returning player reward after not playing for over 3 years and saw this on steam. Low and behold my account I hadn't played since before 2022 has been permabanned with no way to make a ticket, I decided to make a ticket on a profile that was connected to the same account for them to close it and say make a ticket on the proper profile if though I can literally access it from the same account. The last battle on said account was in 2023 which I know I hadn't played it since starting my new job so obviously someone else played my account. "I've been playing this game for a couple of years now (since 2015). The game has been a chapter of my childhood. First events, Cool modes such as: Waffentrager, Mirny-13, Races, Halloween events etc.. In the early days the game had a few aspects you could get good at and the game was beginner friendly untill a few changes has been made by Wargaming. Gameplay: The game is pure repetitive grind without a premium account + you keep dying and dying and dying either by your fault or mostly luck (a.k.a as WoT players call it "RNG") RNG is pretty much your life dependent on some random numbers that either make you happy or not. You either die as a one shot kill or you one shot somebody and send him to garage. Aiming system: Winning a lottery has a higher chance than hitting the marker you aim at. You almost hit everything except the marker you aim at. Sometimes it flies off high sometimes absolutely to the left sometimes it hits a dead tanks gun barrel because of model of the ammo hitting the barrel. ** (In short terms explained: You are in a 1v1 situation, your enemy has 390hp left and your gun average damage consists of 390 dmg you penetrate him but the luck says otherwise HAHA you've hit him for 364hp since the randomization of dmg approximately 25%+-) Matchmaking: 3-5-7 +2 matchmaking is the worst change in the game in my opinion. "Played around 1k hours on the OG WG client. Decided to boot it up again since you can now link your old WG account to Steam to see what's up with the game. Somehow the game is more predatory and grindy when I left it. A grind so bad that you are encouraged to camp because maximizing damage output directly correlates to how much credit you earn per match... which always promoted and rewarded selfish play and behavior. And if somehow you didn't do any damage in that match, you're basically cooked... and guaranteed to lose money, Premium Account active or not. That's why players camp all the time even though their role is supposed to be doing something more "active". This means, everyone's goal in the server is to profit from the grind... and that notion alone makes it a very unfun, masochistic experience... psychologically designed by Wargaming for you to suffer, and force your hand to swipe your credit card to pay for a subscription, to get better tanks thorough the shop that has better profit margins per match than free tanks, and literally "pay-to-damage" ammo spamming gold rounds... And don't get me started on the same cheaters that can see everyone on the map regardless of your distance... and the same bot problem that plagued the game 10 years ago, still exists today, which is WILD. For the uninitiated and looking to give it a shot because your favorite Youtuber promoted it or whatever... just don't... stay away from this hellhole."

"I have been playing the game on and off (both on steam, WG client, and console) for about 9 years now, but today I'm deleting the game forever. Used to be a great game, but has been completely ruined by recent updates. Might still be enjoyable if you started years ago, pay for premium, have access to the best tanks and equipment, but this game probably offers one of the most horrible new player experiences of any game in 2026. "I have been playing this game since Beta test in 2011, Steam does not show my actual hours played. And I can honestly say that in the last years it has gotten worse. My main problems are: 1) 90% of the battles end in 3-5 minutes 2) No bare minimum matchmaking (skill-wise) 3) Free and full techtrees given to new players, that get tossed in the pub games immediately 4) RNG often times make no sense 5) Premium ammo spam I can go on all day about this... I feel kinda sad and violated by this game, because I have put so much time in this game. And its getting worse. Yes, you can have fun in game, but its like 10% of the time for me. I you want to start playing this game I advise you also make an appointment in the local psychiatric ward"

"Overall, a much better experience than their other game World of Tanks Blitz. Here the graphics are actually PC standard. I dont have much else to say as I pretty much covered the pros and cons on blitz and this is pretty much the same game except a few more interface features. The biggest con? What the heck is up with all these tank pvp games using a reticile that snaps to objects? its gets frustrating when youre in close combat and the barrel faces dead to the side but the curser wants to snap to building debris. Just give us a damn static cursor and let us aim on our own skill. Stop with this annoying auto snapping in shooter games. Other con, WOT is famous for invisible tanks. Get shot at, dont see by who, dead. 4/10 gameplay."

"I never review anything because I rarely feel strongly enough, but given the absolutely unworthy state of this game I could not pass it up. World of Tanks is an overall unplayable, terribly mismanaged, flawed and neglected game in almost every aspect. The matchmaking is system is basically non-existent. You will be matched on a team with lower stats than the enemy team 3 out of 10 games which will always result in a loss. A majority of players will play without any effort or caution to a point where it is like they are trying to ruin the game and set the rest of the team up for failure. There are countless people in this game that do not have the knowledge to play their chosen tank and will refuse to play to the best of its abilities, and just plain and simple choose not to work with and help the team. The developer of this game consistently refuses to listen to its fanbase for improvements to matchmaking resulting in a very unstable and constant streaks of wins or losses usually ending in complete domination or defeat, no in-between in the slightest. "The gameplay formula is overall great, it is addictive even! However I have a few things that drive me up a wall with this game: 1. You can't choose which map you play! It makes roles of different tanks useless in many scenarios and makes maps straight up garbage because they try to fit all playstyles and as a result fit none. Most of the maps are unbalanced and badly thought through. So out of all 40+ maps you will probably enjoy 2 or 3 and celebrate every time you randomly got that map you wanted. 2. The battles are not balanced based on any useful metric! You will be put in a round with 14 random players. No, their skill is not taken into account during matchmaking. So the people you have a potential to meet might have better stats then you and probably most of your teammates combined. It leads to "turbo" games quite often when all your team is slaughtered in less then three minutes without enemies even taking one loss. 3. The community is perhaps one of the most toxic out there. I suggest you turn off the in game chat as soon as you install the game because you won't see anything good being said in there. The players of this game hate each other and so will they hate you. Welcome to the family! 4. Developers are actively encouraging the passive and unskilled players with the systems they've made.
